 Rationale

Building trust through dialogue

  • SMRs and AMRs may be deployed close to urban areas and industrial hubs, making early public engagement essential to foster trust and societal acceptance.
  • Dialogue needs to address not only safety and environmental aspects, but also citizens’ perceptions and expectations and local concerns.

Engaging local communities

  • Promote transparent and inclusive exchanges between SMR developers, municipalities, local society organisations, NGOs, social partners and citizens.

Strengthening stakeholder engagement

  • Support the development of structured, practical and adaptable public and stakeholder engagement approaches for SMR projects.

Develop

  • Roadmap / Action Plan fostering public and stakeholder engagement approaches dialogue with civil society

Start constructive dialogue and engage openly with civil society from the very beginning
